Center for Environmental Studies

Goal of the Center for Environmental Studies is to monitor activities within the area of practical environmental policy. We focus on topics such as green tax reform, forestry and wood-processing industry, climate change and global warming policies, participation of local communities in nature protection of developing countries, Natura 2000, power engineering, exploitation of resources, etc.

An additional aim is to stress the role of property rights in environmental protection and the relevant findings of theoretical economics. The Center seeks to further develop s.c. Free Market Environmentalism, basis of which lie in institutional economics, school of property rights and public choice theory. FME founders and key representatives Terry L. Anderson and Donald Leal come from the American think-tank called Property and Environment Research Center (PERC).

We have published numerous studies and articles; speak in public either in media or in seminars and conferences. We argue against negative impact of existing or proposed environmental measures imposed by the government as well as offer alternative solutions which protect the environment and respect freedom and property rights.
